PCC is Colorado’s largest geographical district with a main campus in Pueblo and satellite presences in Fremont, Mancos, Durango/Cortez, Cañon City, and Bayfield. The college enrolls 5,600 students per year. A comprehensive community college, PCC offers a broad range of general, personal, vocational, and technical education programs as well as provides two-year transfer programs to qualify students for admission to the junior year at other colleges and universities. PCC also offers Bachelor of Applied Science degrees in Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Advanced Paramedic Practitioner, and Secure Software Development. The PCC leadership team is headquartered in Pueblo, one of the nation’s great small towns with a remarkable quality of life. Located at the confluence of Fountain Creek and the Arkansas River, whose headwaters gather in the Sawatch and Mosquito mountain ranges to the west, the region sits in a rain shadow caused by 14,000-foot peaks. Known as Colorado’s “banana belt,” Pueblo is about 100 miles south of Denver in semi-arid desert land that gets approximately 12 inches of annual precipitation.
The nursing department, an integral part of the Medical and Behavioral Health Division that supports both the transfer and program functions of the College, strives to provide an excellent education experience that prepares students to become skillful and caring members of the nursing profession who meet the needs of a diverse population. The new Director will be joining PCC at an historic moment. In Fall 2022, the College will dedicate the Nursing and Allied Health Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) located in the renovated East Tower of St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center just two miles from PCC’s main campus. The Medical Center includes an accredited and nationally recognized cancer center, a designated Breast Center of Excellence, state-of-the-art robotic-assisted surgical technology, and a dedicated Joint Replacement Center.
