The College of Saint Benedict (CSB) and Saint John’s University (SJU), two selective, national liberal arts Catholic institutions, with distinct but supporting missions, invite inquiries, applications and nominations for the inaugural position of Chief Operating Officer (COO). Reporting directly to the newly appointed president for both institutions, Brian Bruess, Ph.D., the COO plays a central role on the leadership team, steering administrative and operational functions while partnering closely with the president and provost on strategy and planning, financial sustainability, enrollment, human capital management, technology, and campus safety. The inaugural COO is expected to assume office in early spring 2023 or soon thereafter.
CSB is an institution for women and SJU is an institution for men, together serving 2,900 students on campuses located in central Minnesota, minutes away from the St. Cloud metropolitan area. Together, CSB and SJU form a one-of-a-kind partnership of two top-tier colleges. President Bruess seeks a COO who has a creative spirit, is a systems thinker, and can reimagine systems and processes to ensure strong cohesion, streamlined processes, and sustainability of institutional operations. The COO will serve as a strategic thought leader, advisor, and catalyst for innovation at this time of impressive momentum for CSB and SJU.
For more information about the institutions, position, leadership agenda, qualifications, and application process, please review the search prospectus, available for download, on the Academic Search website. Additional information about CSB and SJU is available at https://www.csbsju.edu/.
Maya Ranchod Kirkhope, Vice President and Senior Consultant at Academic Search, is assisting with this national search. Applications, nominations, and inquiries may be sent in confidence to CSBSJU-COO@academicsearch.org. Although application materials will be accepted until the time that the inaugural COO is selected, candidates should submit materials by October 10, 2022, for the most favorable consideration.
