The State University of New York at Fredonia seeks a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead the university’s ongoing commitment to support and promote the strategic use of information technology that advances the overall mission of the University. Reporting to the President, the CIO will lead and manage the Information Technology Services division, including academic and administrative computing, networking, support services, classroom and instructional technology, programming services, and telecommunications. The start date is negotiable, but ideally the CIO will begin by January 2023.
SUNY Fredonia is a comprehensive, selective, public, residential, liberal arts university located in beautiful Western New York, just minutes from Lake Erie. It is home to over 80 majors and 50 minors in education, visual and performing arts, business, humanities, and the natural and social sciences.
The CIO serves as the principal technology leader for the university providing the vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology strategies and initiatives university-wide. The position scope is inclusive of all university divisions and campuses. This necessitates a high level of familiarity with the various constituents in a higher education environment, and a commitment to meeting the diverse information and communications needs that exist across all university departments, and an understanding of Fredonia’s culture of shared governance.
Among the requirements for the CIO are a Master’s degree from an accredited higher education institution (a Master’s degree in information technology or closely related field is preferred), significant past professional experience in higher education, and a demonstrated commitment to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
