Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) and Chancellor Dr. Steven R. Gonzales invite inquiries, applications, and nominations for the District’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). The COO plays a central role on the leadership team, steering administrative and operational functions, while partnering closely with the Chancellor and new Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost on strategy and planning, financial sustainability, human resources management, technology, and public safety.
The COO will manage much of the organizational structure of the District and will ensure current policies and procedures are examined and assessed for efficiency, effectiveness, and proper execution. Ultimately, the COO will have an energetic vision for increasing integration, efficiencies, and strategic relationships. The COO must be familiar with higher education and emerging best practices and trends in technology, sustainability, and risk management, as well as be adaptable to the ever-changing environment of these areas of responsibility.
Maricopa County Community College District is one of the nation’s largest and most innovative community college systems. Popularly known as Maricopa Community Colleges, the District is comprised of 10 individually accredited colleges and 31 satellite locations serving approximately 100,000 students and employing over 10,000 faculty and staff. Since its founding in 1962, the Maricopa Community Colleges system has continued to be an essential resource for local communities in the Greater Phoenix Metro Area and a gateway to affordable higher education, particularly for disadvantaged, diverse, and first-generation students.
