Gettysburg College invites inquiries, nominations, and applications, in their search for an innovative, collaborative, and dynamic leader to serve as the inaugural Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs (APFA). Located in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and in close proximity to Harrisburg, PA, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, MD, Gettysburg is a highly selective four-year residential college of liberal arts and sciences that inspires and prepares students—as whole persons—to lead lives of meaning, service, and consequence. Providing unique experiences and a modern approach to pedagogy, Gettysburg enrolls more than 2,400 students from 40 states and 49 countries. There is a strong preference for the new APFA to take office before the Fall 2023 academic semester begins.
Reporting to the Provost Designate, Jamila Bookwala, the APFA will be responsible for developing and leading the programs and administrative processes related to faculty recruitment and retention; faculty support, development, recognition, and success; and faculty community, climate, and culture, especially with regard to increasing access, belonging, diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a member of the Provost’s Senior Leadership Team, the APFA will be responsible for creating a strategic vision and leveraging their knowledge and experience in faculty affairs to provide comprehensive leadership, advocacy, and coordination of the faculty experience and faculty affairs matters.
A Ph.D. or terminal academic degree is required, along with a scholarly record that supports an appointment as a tenured faculty member, at least at the associate rank, in one of the academic departments at Gettysburg College.
Maya Ranchod Kirkhope, Vice President and Senior Consultant of Academic Search is assisting Gettysburg College in this national search. Applications, nominations, and inquiries may be sent in confidence to GettysburgAPFA@academicsearch.org. Although application materials will be accepted until the time that the Associate Provost is selected, candidates should submit materials by May 25, 2023, for the most favorable consideration.
