Dominican University (River Forest, IL), one of the nation’s most distinct Dominican Catholic institutions, invites applications, expressions of interest and nominations of candidates in its search for the University’s Assistant Vice President for Student Success and Engagement. The Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Student Success and Engagement (SSE) will serve as a senior administrative officer for the Vice President of Student Success & Engagement and the SSE Division. In this capacity, this position will provide leadership, vision, and administrative oversight for a range of programs that serve to educate, advise, address social determinants of health, and advocate for students through formal and informal intervention processes.
This position will represent the Vice President and the Student Success & Engagement on University committees and develops systems, processes and programs that facilitate campus-wide collaboration and communication regarding students’ social determinants of health. In this leadership role, the AVP is responsible for student conduct, the assessment & care team (ACT), and the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and processes pertaining to student life, especially those related to student conduct and community standards. Specifically, this position is responsible for the following areas: advising, academic success, diversity & inclusion, student life, resident life, wellness center, orientation, and the dean of student’s office. The AVP will work collaboratively with the SSE Leadership team providing oversight for these areas.
The Assistant Vice President must be innovative and offer a demonstrated capacity for effective change management and this position will serve as a thought leader and strategic planner to cultivate student learning, engagement, and success in the Division of Student Success and Engagement. The AVP will support student success through developing co-curricular opportunities, serving as an advocate for inclusive communities, and creating an engaging student life experience for a transforming comprehensive Hispanic-Serving Institution. The AVP also fosters effective collaborative partnerships with faculty, staff, students, academic departments, and senior administrators to provide a seamless, holistic learning environment that blends the classroom and out-of-classroom experience among a diverse student body of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.
