Berea College, the top college in the country for economic access (College Access Index, New York Times), seeks its next provost and vice president for academic affairs. The provost will partner with the College’s new president to reinforce Berea’s special character as the nation’s premier work college, honor the College’s liberal arts and science excellence, and forge a future of meaningful influence in the region and the nation. Located in Berea, Kentucky, the private, residential, undergraduate college has an historic and distinctive mission to educate students of great academic promise but limited economic means. No Berean student has paid tuition since 1892. The first interracial, co-educational college in the South, Berea serves students from Appalachia and across the world.
Berea’s next provost will lead a newly strengthened and realigned academic affairs division. Among other exciting opportunities for leadership, the provost will position Berea as the leading institution for educational access, inspire new academic programs and modes of learning, create new paradigms for student success and retention, and strengthen career and graduate school pathways, taking full advantage of the College’s centers, labor program, “bridge” programs, and unique active learning laboratories.
Berea is assisted by Academic Search. Applications, nominations, expressions of interest and all inquiries may be submitted in confidence to BereaProvost@academicsearch.org.
