The Capital University Board of Trustees invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the University’s 18th president. The University seeks an inspiring, creative, and strategic leader who will be able to advance innovation and strengthen the institution for long-term sustainability and success. The new president is expected to take office on August 1, 2025.
Capital University educates its more than 2,200 students to make a positive impact in their communities and chosen industries through engaging academic, co-curricular, and professional experiences. Rooted in the liberal arts and sciences, Capital offers 61 majors and 56 minors in its traditional undergraduate program and features a Conservatory of Music in addition to its schools of Management and Leadership, Education, and Nursing. Graduate and graduate dual degrees are offered in eight areas of study and include programs at the Capital University Law School and Trinity Lutheran Seminary.
Capital’s 54-acre campus is situated in the Columbus, Ohio, community of Bexley. Trinity Lutheran Seminary at Capital is adjacent to the Bexley campus, and the Capital University Law School is located four miles west at the heart of downtown Columbus, one of the fastest growing cities in the Midwest.
The next president has the opportunity to help galvanize the Capital community around a compelling shared vision and strategy as the University evolves to meet the challenges of the future. As a visible and engaged member of the Capital community, the successful candidate will provide collaborative, consultative, and decisive leadership for the University. The president will be nimble and forward-thinking and bring an innovative approach to ensuring financial sustainability, fostering enrollment success, championing academic and inclusive excellence, building community, honing the University’s identity, raising visibility for Capital, and nurturing partnerships in Bexley, Columbus, and across Ohio. The president will have successful experience leading and navigating a complex organizational structure, with a preference for previous university experience.
