Provost and Executive Vice President
Seton Hall University invites nominations and applications for the position of Provost and Executive Vice President (Provost/EVP). Founded by the first Archbishop of Newark, Seton Hall is a nationally ranked, archdiocesan Catholic university committed to academic excellence; expanding liberal, professional, and scientific knowledge; fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community; and preparing ethical and compassionate servant leaders for a global society. It is anticipated that the Provost/EVP will begin duties during the summer of 2020.
The Provost/EVP will join Seton Hall at a time of great momentum, including record enrollments of students with increasingly competitive academic profiles and a recently designated Carnegie Doctoral University – High Research Activity (R2) status. The Provost/EVP will join newly appointed President, Dr. Joseph Nyre, to launch a new strategic plan and lay the foundation for a comprehensive campaign. Seton Hall’s next Provost/EVP will provide dynamic and inclusive leadership, and embrace the opportunities presented by the University. Seton Hall’s leadership and faculty recognize the demographic, financial, political, and cultural demands on private, Catholic, and liberal arts education in the current economic climate of higher education and desire a committed, creative Provost/EVP to realize Seton Hall’s mission and address the challenges of the current environment.
The new Provost/EVP will join a faculty and administrative team dedicated to furthering academic excellence; advancing diversity, inclusivity, and equity; and cultivating a student-focused learning environment. The Provost/EVP will collaborate with faculty and staff in fostering transformative research and an intellectual culture; integrating the Catholic intellectual tradition across the varied disciplines of the University; strengthening financial support for all academic programs, especially the liberal arts and sciences; building partnerships across disciplines; recruiting, retaining, and developing a strong faculty that reflects the diversity of the Seton Hall community; and becoming a leader in interprofessional health sciences.
