The California Lutheran University Board of Regents invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of President. The Board seeks an engaging and effective leader who will bring demonstrated success managing a complex organization, along with a deep understanding and appreciation for the culture and distinctive values of Lutheran higher education in today’s increasingly diverse and complicated higher education landscape.

Founded in 1959 and located in the community of Thousand Oaks, halfway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara and fifteen miles from the Southern California coast, California Lutheran University is a growing, Hispanic-Serving, liberal arts university. Through its 225-acre main campus, four regional centers, and the Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, Cal Lutheran is home to 3,000 undergraduates and nearly 1,300 graduate students. The University provides a student-centered and rigorous academic environment with over 40 undergraduate majors and minors, 10+ master’s degrees, and four doctoral degrees offered through six academic units.

The next president of Cal Lutheran has an exciting opportunity to build upon the impressive expansion and transformation of the University over the past decade. The successful candidate will be an experienced leader who can provide transformative leadership, clarify and articulate strategic direction, expand the University’s resource base, promote and enhance academic quality, advocate for diversity, inclusion, and a sustainable future, and build upon the student-focused, faith-based culture that has shaped Cal Lutheran. The next president must possess an earned advanced degree, and at least seven years’ significant and successful leadership experience.
