Ferris State University, in beautiful Big Rapids, Michigan, invites applications and nominations for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. As Ferris State’s chief academic officer, the new Provost will provide leadership and oversight for all academic programs on the Big Rapids campus and at 22 partner locations in Michigan and guide the University in implementing the approved Ferris Forward strategic plan. The Provost reports directly to experienced President David Eisler, is a member of the President’s executive leadership team, plays a central role in institutional decisions, and leads 440 full-time faculty and all units within Academic Affairs to create, implement, and support a vision of academic excellence and student success for the University. Additionally, the Provost promotes faculty excellence in teaching, scholarship, advising, and service; provides academic budgetary oversight; and expands opportunities for engagement and outreach at local, state, national and global levels. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), Ferris State will host the visitation team in October of 2020 for review of its HLC reaccreditation report.

Candidates for this position must have an earned doctorate or appropriate terminal degree, distinction in their field as a scholar and educator, and substantial senior-level administrative experience in higher education relevant to a teaching- and career-oriented university.
