Austin College (Sherman, Texas) invites nominations, inquiries, and applications for an accomplished and collaborative leader to serve as its next Vice President of Business Affairs (VPBA). This person should have an understanding of higher education with a commitment to the mission of a liberal arts education.
Reporting directly to the President, Steven P. O’Day, the VPBA serves as the chief business officer of the college, treasurer, and member of the Senior Leadership Team. As an executive position, the VPBA will provide leadership and administrative oversight for business and financial services, for the budget including fund accounting, for facilities management, and for safety and risk management. This role impacts policy, financial planning, management and assessment of the financial activities of the College. As the chief business officer, the VPBA works closely with other executive officers, deans, and directors, and interacts with faculty, staff, students, and community members to accomplish the many initiatives that power Austin College.
As the College emerges from the pandemic, a successful candidate will be an innovative leader who is ready to tackle the changing landscape of higher education. The ideal candidate will have strengths in:
- the technical knowledge and business acumen to provide stability for the College’s fiscal and administrative processes.
- the ability to propose, lead, and champion both necessary and innovative ways to plan and ultimately thrive in a post-COVID context;
- the ability to manage the intricacies of working in a resource-aware environment and the ability to recommend strategies for short- and long-term data-driven decisions tied to informed budget modelling and financial planning;
- a demonstrated evidence of ethical values, creativity, energy and will be committed to student success and the mission.
Austin College, a private national liberal arts college located north of Dallas in Sherman, Texas, has earned a reputation for excellence, recognized by Loren Pope in the book Colleges That Change Lives. Located in historic Sherman, this residential and nationally recognized environmentally green campus is less than 60 minutes north of Dallas-Fort Worth. Austin College recently completed Power Austin College, the largest comprehensive campaign in its history. Over $125 million was raised for a variety of initiatives, including endowment for scholarships and programs, capital, and operating needs.
