Felician University, a co-educational liberal arts university with main campuses in Lodi and Rutherford, New Jersey, seeks as its next Vice President for Academic Affairs an experienced academic administrator who is mission-driven and will build upon the University’s academic program, aligning it with the current needs of higher education’s changing landscape. The vice president will join the University at a pivotal moment in its history and partner with a new leader, President James W. Crawford, III, and a growing senior leadership team to further advance the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and student success.
Felician is one of 24 Franciscan universities in the United States and the only Catholic, Franciscan, private, independent institution in New Jersey. The University is thriving with record-breaking increases in enrollment and improvements in student success, a focus on inclusive excellence, shared governance, new partnerships and programs, growing net revenue, and continued facilities enhancements.
Felician enrolls approximately 2,400 students, with 272 dedicated faculty (80 full-time; 192 part-time). The faculty are non-tenured and for many programs made up of active professionals in the working world. The University offers more than 60 majors, minors, and concentrations in four academic schools: the School of Arts & Sciences; School of Business and Information Sciences; School of Education; and School of Nursing.
The University seeks an experienced leader with the ability to examine current programming and to seek out new opportunities and programs related to emerging trends in higher education in order to better market the university, within a sustainable financial mode, including the strategic use of technology across the curriculum. In addition, the University seeks an administrator with a successful record of resource and partnership development through attracting philanthropic support, securing grants and contracts, and building innovative partnerships with other institutions and with businesses and foundations.
The next VPAA will serve as an advocate for the academic unit and recognize and encourage the contributions of Felician’s dedicated faculty and staff to build and empower a strong sense of campus community, as well as work collaboratively with other departments across the campus to create a more symbiotic relationship between curricular and co-curricular activities.
