  • Our Employees and Independent Contractors: We collect the following categories of information from you:
    • Identifiers, such as your name and contact information (email address, address (mailing and home), and phone number);
    • Professional or career-related information and education information, such as your job search criteria and preferences, your availability to work, your work experience, educational history, your skills, reference information, background check information, pay/compensation expectations, ability to work in the United States, languages spoken, and other information contained in your resume or curriculum vitae (CV);
    • Emergency contact information consisting of full name and phone number;
    • Information protected against security breaches, such as bank information if you work with us and elect to be paid via direct deposit consisting of bank account numbers and direct deposit information;
    • Characteristics of Protected Classifications Under California or Federal Law, including gender, age, and military/veteran status.
  • Clients and employees of clients: We collect the following categories of Personal Information from you:
    • Identifiers such as your name, business phone number, and email address;
    • Professional or employment-related information such as your company name, department, and job title;
    • Information protected against security breaches such as bank and payment information if we render services to you, depending on how you elect to pay for services rendered.
  • Vendors/Suppliers: We collect the following categories of Personal Information from you or Academic Search’s business contacts who may wish to recommend you:
    • Identifiers such as your name, business phone number, and email address;
    • Professional or employment-related information such as your company name, department, and job title;
    • Information protected against security breaches such as bank account information, so we can pay you for providing products or services to Academic Search.
  • Marketing recipients, Prospective Clients, and People who contact us with inquiries: We collect the following categories of Personal Information from you or from information that is publicly available on the internet:
    • Identifiers such as your name, phone number, and email address;
    • Professional or employment-related information such as your company name, department, and job title.

How we obtain your personal information. You may provide us with your personal information voluntarily, for example, when you contact us requesting our services or applying for a vacancy. We may also receive information about you from third parties such as clients, candidates, licensed databases, our suppliers/vendors, contractors and consultants, group companies, public websites and public agencies, which we refer to as “third-party sources” throughout this Policy.

You may give us personal information about yourself by using the online forms provided on our website, or by contacting us by phone, email, or other means. This includes, for example, where you provide your personal information to us in order to receive services from us. If you are a supplier, you may also give us personal information about you when you are offering or providing services to us.

Aggregate Information. You can always browse our website and search for posted positions without providing any personally identifiable information to academicsearch.org. We gather general information about the number of users browsing the website, the number of users who view certain posted positions, and how users navigate through our website. This information is collected only in the aggregate. We use this information to provide aggregated statistical feedback to the institutions posting positions on our website, to publicize our website, and to further develop our website to maximize the benefits realized by our users.

Tracking Technologies. Our partners and we use technologies such as cookies or similar technologies to analyze trends, administer the website, track users’ movements around the website, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. Users can control the use of cookies at the individual browser level.

As is true of most websites, we gather certain information automatically and store it in log files. This information may include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and/or clickstream data. We do not link this automatically collected data to other information we collect about you. In order to not have cookies track your information, you will need to turn off cookies usage on your web browser.

We partner with a third party to either display advertising on our website or to manage our advertising on other sites. Our third-party partner may use technologies such as cookies to gather information about your activities on this website and other sites in order to provide you with advertising based on your browsing activities and interests.

Payments. Academic Search does not collect payments on academicsearch.org for any purposes.

PURPOSES FOR USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

We use Personal Information for the following:

  • to perform our obligations under any contract with you (for example, to fulfill a recruiting assignment you request or to comply with our contract to provide services to or receive services from you or your employer)
  • to register you with our websites (when applicable),
  • to provide you with information about job opportunities and career-related information, our practice and available services,
  • to manage our relationship with you,
  • to develop and carry out marketing activities,
  • to provide you with requested information or services, and
  • to provide you with general updates from Academic Search.

In certain situations, Academic Search may be required to disclose personal data in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including to meet law enforcement requirements.

  • Characteristics of protected classifications under California or Federal law such as gender

  • Information protected against security breaches like your direct deposit or bank account information so that workers can be paid and Clients can pay us.

  • Professional, career, or employment-related information

Service Providers: We may share Personal Information with our third-party service providers who perform business functions and services on our behalf, such as the provider of Academic Search’s customer relationship management solution. These companies are authorized to use your personally identifiable information only as necessary to provide these services to us.

Clients: We share the following categories of Personal Information with our Clients for the purposes of evaluating a Candidate’s credentials, skills, and experience, and scheduling and conducting interviews:

  • Identifiers, such as your name and contact information (email address, address, and phone number);
  • Professional or career-related information and education information, such as your job search criteria and preferences, your availability to work, your work experience, educational history, your skills, reference information, background check information, pay/compensation expectations, ability to work in the United States, languages spoken, and other information contained in your resume or curriculum vitae (CV);
  • Characteristics of Protected Classifications Under California or Federal Law, including gender, age, and military/veteran status.

Candidates: We may share Personal Information of our Clients to Candidates such as when a Candidate must know information about whom to contact when going on an interview with a Client. We may share the following categories of Personal Information with candidates:

  • Identifiers, such as your name and contact information (email address and phone number)

Our Employees: We share the following categories of our employees Personal Information with our service providers when applicable:

  • Identifiers, such as your name and contact information (email address, address (mailing and home), and phone number);
  • Professional or career-related information and education information, such as your job search criteria and preferences, your availability to work, your work experience, educational history, your skills, reference information, background check information, pay/compensation expectations, ability to work in the United States, languages spoken, and other information contained in your resume or curriculum vitae (CV);

As required or appropriate by law. We may disclose Personal Information to regulatory authorities, government authorities or courts to comply with applicable laws, the service of legal process, or if we reasonably believe that such action is necessary to (a) comply with the law requiring such disclosure; (b) protect the rights or property of Academic Search or its affiliated companies; (c) prevent a crime or protect national security; or (d) protect the personal safety of the users or the public.

Business transfers. We also may disclose or transfer information to a third party in the event of any reorganization, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, assets or stock (including in connection with any bankruptcy or similar proceedings).

Upon request, Academic Search will provide you with information about whether we hold any of your personal information. You can request to change, correct, or remove your personally identifiable information from the database and website at any time. We will respond to your request to access within a reasonable timeframe. We will retain your information for as long as needed to provide you with services. Unfortunately, no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. DATA RETENTION

We keep your Personal Information for as long as needed or permitted in light of the purpose(s) for which it was obtained. CHILDREN

You must be aged 18 and older to receive Services from us. Our website and Services ae not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children, nor do we authorize use of this website by children. If we become aware that we have received or collected Personal Information about a child, we will delete that Personal Information as soon as possible.

Academic Search acknowledges your rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and has, in good faith, tried to comply with its requirements shall Academic Search be deemed to be governed by it.
